Washcloth cupcakes make an interesting, unique gift. One starts by folding the facecloth into thirds lengthwise. Then one needs to fold the washcloth again in half. The length of folded facecloth is then rolled at a semi-diagonal angle so that it is tiered to resemble icing on top of a real cupcake. The piece of fabric is then used to wrap around the washcloth and held in place by the straight pin. Any extra length of fabric can be trimmed off with pinking shears.
The cupcake needs to be topped off with the decorative piece and the entire unit is placed into the cupcake wrapper. This completed item then needs to be carefully placed into the clear bag and tied off with the ribbon. An attractive label can be affixed onto the bag with a congratulatory message included.
Added customization can be provided by incorporating lace like doilies around the basic wrapper. These can also be created by the gift giver using colored paper and small scissors. Patterns can be cut out of the paper to further customize the colored paper wrapper.
